How to plan PC case airflow
Good airflow is a clear path through the case, correct fan direction and enough clearance for every selected component.

A simple airflow plan brings cool air through the front or bottom and exhausts warm air through the rear or top. Mesh intake panels generally offer less restriction than sealed decorative fronts. The exact result depends on fan quality, speed and component heat output.
Avoid blocking the intake with cables or placing the case directly against a wall. Leave space around exhaust openings and keep filters reasonably clean.
Identify fan direction correctly
Most case fans move air from the open side toward the side with the support struts and motor label. Check the small arrows on the frame when available. Installing every fan as exhaust can starve the graphics card and increase dust through unfiltered gaps.
A common starting layout is two or three front intake fans plus one rear exhaust. Top exhaust fans can help higher-power systems, but adding more fans is not automatically better if they create turbulence or noise.
Balance cooling and dust control
Slightly more filtered intake than exhaust can reduce dust entering through unfiltered openings. This is often called positive pressure, although actual pressure depends on fan curves and restrictions rather than fan count alone.
Clean removable filters and front panels periodically. A heavily clogged filter can turn a good airflow case into a restricted one.
Check every physical clearance
Confirm graphics-card length and thickness, CPU cooler height, radiator positions, motherboard size and power-supply length. Front radiators can reduce GPU clearance, while top radiators may conflict with tall memory modules or motherboard heatsinks.
Use the case manufacturer manual and the exact component dimensions. Product family names are not enough because different variants can have different limits.
Tune for noise after temperatures are safe
Set fan curves so fans remain quiet during light work and increase gradually under sustained load. Sudden speed changes are often more distracting than a steady sound.
Monitor CPU and GPU temperatures under representative workloads. If temperatures are safe, reducing unnecessary fan speed can make the system much more pleasant without affecting performance.
